QuestionQUESTION: i had abortion on 19th dec i am still spotting some blood its not heavy but pink is it normal? when can it stop please help me?
ANSWER: Dear Haif,
Spotting can be completely normal up to 2, or even 3 months after an abortion. It is harmless, and does not mean anything is wrong. However, if you are having significant cramping with the spotting, you should be evaluated by the doctor who did the procedure. Sometimes starting on birth control can help get you back into cycle. Otherwise, it should resolve on its own over time.

QUESTION: doctor..Today i had a small clot in bleeding bleeding isn't heavy but i am still passing some tissues when its going to stop? is it normal can i use abortion pill to pass some clots if left inside? can it be usefull
ANSWER: Dear Haif,
It is good that you are passing clots and a little tissue. This is probably the cause of the spotting. The best thing would be to wait a couple of days. If you give it some time, your body will usually do what it needs to on its own. Some things that can help it pass: warm baths or heat; and sex (be sure to use protection, you can get pregnant again!).
If the clots continue for more that 2-3 days, the best thing would be to see the doctor who did the abortion, so they can evaluate. They will decide if you need a repeat procedure.
Yes, misoprostol (the second medication in the abortion pill) is sometimes used in this situation. Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract, and the cervix to dilate. This can stimulate the uterus to expel any lining that is remaining. Unfortunately it is not 100% effective. A repeat procedure has a higher success rate.

QUESTION: hello doctor i had misoprostol but i had no cramps no clots after that. I think clots are over. My liquid is still pink all i am now worried about it only. Is there possibility of infection?
AnswerDear Haif,
Pink fluid is completely normal, and just indicates there is still some bleeding. From what you've told me, there are no signs of infection. Also infection is extremely rare one week after having an abortion, so it is really not a concern.
