QuestionQUESTION: Hello Mam,
I am Priya from India. I am 22 years old. I got pregnant for the first time on Sep 2010 but it got aborted naturally after 2 and half months. My doctor said I had Rubella infection and heavy sneezing that caused abortion for me. My doctor instructed not to have baby for 3 months so that the infection is cured. But unfortunately I became pregnant again on last week of Dec 2010. As I was taking weight reduction pills, tablets for allergic sneezing and as there was rubella infection I thought of not having this baby and took abortion pills with the doctors advice. Now I want to know whether this is a right decision? Will this affect me for my future pregnancy planned few months later after strengthening my health? Please do reply which will bring me out of confusion.....
Thanking You
ANSWER: Hello, Priyanka,
You're welcome.
Unfortunately, the best time to ask your question is BEFORE you do anything. I don't know why your doctor told you that your Rubella infection was a problem. Rubella is one of those infectious diseases that only lasts a few days, and then causes immunity. Any baby you conceive after your miscarriage would get passive immunity from you, and would be protected from Rubella for awhile. It sounds like your doctor lacks good medical judgment.
Nobody really knows how the pills might affect future children. I think they are afraid to find out, because as far as I know, nobody is trying to find out, either.
It is somewhat unlikely that taking the pills when you did will stop this pregnancy. If they don't, you need to leave your body alone and not take any more pills. Don't go back to this doctor. He cannot be trusted. I think he lied to you about the dangers to begin with, and those pills can kill a woman. Many women in India are bleeding to death after taking the pills, and it is also possible to get an infection that can kill a woman within hours.
Find a decent doctor who understands medical ethics. If you have a Catholic church in your area, ask them to recommend someone. Some other churches might also be able to recommend someone. This doctor obviously isn't concerned about your safety and health, and he's not concerned about your children either, so please find someone else.
Please let me know what happens. Take care of yourself, and don't take any more poisonous pills, even if a doctor tells you to.

QUESTION: Thank you for your reply. She is our family doctor for past 21 years. I dont know what was the real problem. Does heavy sneezing and overweight affect our child? I am 22 years height 161cm and weight is 78 kg. I have some sort of dust allergy which causes heavy sneezing 5 to 6 times. If I had known about this website facility I would not have done that. Its too late for me realize.
AnswerHello, Priyanka,
You're welcome.
Since your doctor has been with your family for so long, please TELL her abortion is bad medicine, and you hope she won't ever do that to anyone else. Abortion is unethical.
Overweight and sneezing shouldn't affect your child, either. There are probably things you can do to help overcome the allergy and sneezing. You can also lose weight, and it would be wise, and if you have a child and breastfeed, this will help. But if you eat poorly, then your child will also be overweight. Try to cook your food less, and eat raw vegetables when you can. The spices in your food should help you considerably. If you are a vegetarian, make it a point to get some animal food into your diet. A vegetarian diet is very unhealthy and can lead to being overweight. Even if all you do is eat cheese with spinach and garam masala sauce, do it! It will make a difference.
I'm sorry you didn't find this site before. Please do let other women know abortion is bad for women, and try to keep them from considering it.
If you have problems with heavy bleeding, try eating foods with red hot peppers in them on a regular basis. It seems to help some women.
Let me know how you do from time to time. Please take care of yourself.
