Post-Surgical Complications After Abortion: Seeking Answers

Question
I had an MVA done about three weeks I wasn't bleeding the first couple of days but then after I started to bleed like my normal heavy cycle, but later I started to get clots they started out small then begin to be almost the size of a golf ball..I went back to the clinic and they did an ultrasound to check but everything was clear then I went back today and they checked and said everything was clear but he did another MVA...now I am still having side pains but they are even worse...I went back to work three days after the first one and i stand for about 6-9 hours plus I have a 7 month old to take care of could that be a factor, please help  I am worried something could  be seriously wrong...I live in the US

Answer
Hi dear Danielle,
Obviously you are bleeding more than normal. This is no reason for a second MVA, which might have done more harm.
Even in the US mistakes are made, but fortunately in my experience, bleeding will stop in a couple of days.
Just take a simple painkiller like paracetamol for a few days. No aspirin containing drugs as they promote bleeding.
I am sure you will feel better soon.
Good luck,
Dr Shan
