Post-Abortion Cramping: Causes, Relief, and When to Seek Help
QuestionHi. I had a surgical abortion done on my 6 week fetus. Right after the abortion, I did not experience any cramping nor pain. I was just bleeding abit and I was only given painkiller by my doctor. He didn't give me any antibiotic. However, 6 days after I had my abortion, I started to experience very persistent and intense cramps. It will go on and off and I started taking the painkiller given by my doctor. Now it's been 6 days worth of intense cramps, unlike those I get when I have my menses. I went for my follow up check up today and my doctor brushed off my pain, as he said my ultra scan shows that everything is well. He did say I may have a minor infection and gave me 1 capsule of fluconazole to be taken today and 2 tablets of cycin to be taken tomorrow. I have taken the fluconazole but my pain is still there and honestly i cannot take the pain anymore. I find it excrutiating. My qn is, is it normal, the pain that I have been feeling for the last 6 days? Should I get a 2nd opinion from another doctor?
AnswerDear F,
Yes if you are in pain you need to go to another doctor. Don't let a doctor, even if a professional, brush off your pain. You are the only one who can tell if something is wrong so go with your instincts. This can be dangerous to your life and health. Please get an another opinion and let me know what happens.
