Questioni am studying aromatherpy massage and dont actually know the contra-indications to the treatment!, dont suppose you can tell me? cheerz joey
AnswerGreetings Joey. One of the more obvious CI for aromatherapy massage is if the cleint has an allergy to the oils. The biggest oil here is chamomile; some people with hayfever can have a sensitivity to it.
The other big contraindication for aromatherapy is pregnancy. Essential oils (EOs) contain a large number of hormone-like compounds, and adding those to a body who's hormones are already raging can make the client very ill.
Also, if a person has been ill, or if their bodies are very weak, skipping the EOs might be a good idea. They might be too weak to handle the effects of the massage, and aromatherapy, and the illness. If you do not want to skip the oils, then a very weak (1 percent) dilution is recommended.
I hope this is of some help, Joey. Please feel free to write again if you have any other questions. Also feel free to rate me on AllExperts; both positive and constructive feedback help me to learn to help others better.
