QuestionHi Machael,
I'm hoping you can help me? I qualified in Beauty Therapy nearly eight years ago but then took up another profession.
Resently I have bought a massage bed and will be starting doing full body massages again. Since it has been so long since I have done this I have been researching over the internet for correct procedures. I am trying to put together a contra-indications form to ask clients questions before I massage them. Could you help me with the general areas I need to consentrate on? Also what before and after care is needed for the client? I have found quite informative information on what carrier oils and essential oils to use depending on the client.
Thankyou so much for your help,
Rgds
Michelle :)
Answerthank you for your quiry, Michelle.
To start with, here is a link that should help you with accessing many of the forms you will need in your massage work, including the Client history form and Client Intake form under "Client Records": http://www.sohnen-moe.com/forms.php
Also regarding the contra-indications, you will probably want to buy "Massage Therapists Guide to Pathology" by Ruth Werner and keep it as a ready reference nearby.
Informing the client about post-massage water intake and what to expect from their body after the session is always a good strategy.
You might also seriously consider enrolling in a brush-up course at a nearby massage school to update and/or upgrade your techniques. That's what I did after no follow-up schooling in 12 yrs. It was worth every penny.
Hope that helps you.
