Eczema Massage: Contraindications and Safe Practices for Massage Therapists

Hi Mikey,

    I'm a massage therapy student and I'd like to know what contraindications eczema has aside from when the eczema is oozing or the skin is cracked.

Hi Paula :)

Besides avoiding cracked or oozing skin, you will want to avoid inflammed areas as well.  When the eczema is not flaring up, massage (especially with a good moisturizer) will do the skin some good.  

A referral to a dermatologist is appropriate as well.
