Clindamycin 2% & Neostrata Toning Solution: Usage & Application Guide

Question
Hello, and thank you for this forum where I can ask a question.
The dermatologist prescribed Clindamycin 2% with Neostrata Tonging Solution and I filled the prescription.

Nothing in the instructions tell me how to prepare the skin for this product. Nothing tells me if I have to wear the product or wash it off after a certain period. Nothing tells me if I can wear face cream on top of the product.
It is Saturday and the doc's office is closed, while the Pharmacist tells me that i have to speak with the dermatologist about the correct use of this product.

Can you help me with information on face preparation and use of the subject product?

thanks.

Answer
Hello, I have to first state that I'm not a doctor, so I can only tell you how I've seen the doctors I've worked for tell people how to use the rx, you should just use this info for the weekend and call back to your dr.s office monday to make sure you're using it the way they want you to, because not all dr.s use rxs the same way. We tell our patients to apply clindamycin after cleansing and toning the skin (allow the toner to dry for about 2 minutes) just a thin layer (I've heard it can get sticky) and leave on. We tell people in to use it in the a.m. (just once a day). Clindamycin is an antibiotic that will help kill bacteria on the surface of your skin. So I am going to assume that you are using it because you are having some acne problems and say be weary of face creams, a lot of times people with oily skin and acne problems don't need a face cream, magazines sell a lot of hype about them because they are paid to by their advertisers who make these creams. If you feel very dry and can't stand it try to find a light lotion with some alpha hydroxy acids that will help exfoliate your skin while wearing it.
hope this helps
