QuestionI have VERY dry lips. I exfoliate my lips with a toothbrush and slather Burt's Bees on them. I would like to use some color on my lips but they always seem to make my lips look flakier. Which product should I use: lipstick, lips gloss, or lip stain?
AnswerHi Susie! :)
This is an excellent question!
I've researched this for years for soft pretty lips because besides the eyes that are noticed first - lips come in second :)
Exfoliating your lips is a good start.
I'd like to ask if you are using Burt's Bee with the SPF 8 or the medicated lip balm?
If you are out in the sun a lot, this can cause dryness in your lips so this is why making sure you have applied SPF is important.
You could also try: Murad's Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector which has SPF 15 and comes with a handy keychain.
Lipgloss: you could try Clinique's Long Last Glosswear with SPF 15 - last for hours :)
Lipstain: Jane Iredale's Lip Fixation which has a lipstain and a lipgloss.. it contains titanium oxide and has many moisturizing ingredients
My favorite and what I suggest you keep in your purse is Korres Lip Butter. Keeps lips soft and moisturized.
To answer your question, you can use any lipstick, lipgloss or lipstain as long as it has moisturizing ingredients, and more important SPF.
Also, keep you skin/lips hydrated by drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily :)
Hope this helps and would love to hear feedback after you have tried the suggestions above and your lips are soft again :)
Take good care!
Warmly,
Elaine :)
