QuestionHeey there! I am 13 years old and have pretty bad acne on my back and face. I am Italian and therefore, have oily skin. Acne has been a problem for me for about 2-3 years now. I've used dove bar soap and a washcloth for quite a while and its always barely worked. About 3 months ago I switched to an apricot scrub and it didn't really do much. I'm a little scared to just go to a store and try a bunch of random face washes, and I also don't want to spend a fortune on something either. Are there any tips or tricks you have? And/or any facewashes/scrubs you would recommend? Please and thanks for the help!
AnswerDear Lisa~
Neutrogena oil-free acne wash and Neutrogena Acne treatment products are what I strongly recommend you use instead of Dove soap. These are reasonably priced and can be found at most any drugstore. Best of all they are highly effective.
Other, more costly brands that are also effective are Murad and ProActiv.
As for other tips:
1) Drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water daily to help keep your skin clear and hydrated.
2) Avoid sugar as much as possible.
3) Never skip sunscreen (even when it's cloudy) and wear a sun visor whenever possible. There are many excellent oil-free sunscreens.
4) Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night and take a nap whenever possible. Rest is excellent for the skin.
5) Wash you face morning and evening. Try not to touch your face during the day, as bacteria will exacerbate breakouts.
Best wishes!
