Acne Treatment Questions: Tretinoin & Clindamycin - Expert Advice

Question
Hello Linda, my name is Bianca and I'm 16 years olds. Recently I've gotten into the habit into drinking water to clear up my skin/face, make my hair/nails grow, etc. My mom took me to the dermatologist and they gave me two acne treatments for my face. One is Tretinion Cream .05%, and Clydamycin Phosphate. So far my face looks like its peeling each morning from the Tretinion cream, but I'm not sure if I'm applying both creams on right. I asked my dermatologist if I could scrub my face but he said no and I've been tempted many times to scrub my face anyway. Do you have a summary of what these two creams are suppose to do and if I should take each one everyday or take one, one day, and the next day take the other?

Do you have any other suggestion on clearing up acne that isn't serve?

Answer
Dear Bianca~

Because the products you are using were prescribed to you by a doctor of dermatology, I cannot direct you to use those products in any way other than your doctor prescribed.  I strongly encourage you to call your dermatology office and speak with your doctor or your doctor's assistant about your concerns.  No one can better speak to your concerns at this point than your doctor. Only he/she knows your skin condition and frequency with which you should apply the products he/she has suggested.

Good luck, Bianca!

Best,
Linda Gearke
