Red & Blue Eye Makeup Tutorial: Step-by-Step Guide with Visuals

Your eyes are the first highlights of your features that people notice. Dress them up interestingly and you are sure to grab the attention of many.

You may have mastered the art of makeup to the T, but unless you add in some prominent eye makeup to the entire look, the job is not complete. Spring is just round the corner and it is the perfect time to show off your eyes with some lovely and bright colours. A bright red and blue eye look is just what the season demands.

Why the red and blue eye makeup:

  • The best thing about this look is that it can be worn easily through any season.
  • It will go great with both Indian and Western wear.
  • This look will suit most occasions and events.
  • You can also easily tone it down to wear at a formal event.

Products you will need to create the look:

  • A Red eye shadow: You can use either a pearlescent, shimmery or matte one.
  • A Blue eye shadow: The same specifications as the red one, you can choose between a pearlescent, matte and shimmery shade.
  • An eye shadow base or primer
  • A light eye shadow or highlighter
  • A Concealer
  • An Eye liner (you can use either a gel or a liquid one) and kohl
  • A Mascara of your choice

Red And Blue Eye Makeup Tutorial

Read the following red and blue eye makeup steps that can help you go easy with the makeup.

Step 1:

  • Apply the concealer around the eye area to conceal all traces of spots and under eye circles or spots.
  • Blend it well to help avoid a patchy look.
  • Use a good concealer to hide the under eye circles and make the eye area ready to be primed (this tutorial uses the blue heaven concealer stick in natural).

Step 2:

  • Take the eyeshadow primer and prime the eyes. This helps keep the eye shadow longer in place without clumping or creasing.
  • Use any primer. For this tutorial, the ‘Faces metaliglow’ eye primer has been used because of its metallic sheen.

Step 3:

  • Apply the red eye shadow with an angular wet brush all over the lid and create a sharp edge at the outer corner.
  • Blend the shadow nicely to get a neat look. Try to make a neat line on the edge. Once that is done, apply the blue eye shadow.
  • Easy trick to get a clean edge: Take an ear bud and soak it in makeup remover. Take a piece of paper and place it gently over the eye shadow. Once you get the desired position, swipe the ear bud on the outer edge of the paper to get a clean crisp edge.

Step 4:

  • Apply the blue eye shadow from the outer corner and blend it in towards the inner corner.
  • Take a bit of the blue eye shadow in the angular brush and line the bottom lash line.

Step 5:

  • Draw a medium thick line with your black eye liner from the inner corner and slightly thicken it at the outer corner.
  • When you reach the end of the upper eyelid, just create a thin flick.

Step 6:

  • Apply some kohl/kajal on the lower waterline, just 1/3rd from the outer corner.

Step 7:

  • Apply a highlighting eye shadow below the brow and in the inner corner of the eyes.
  • Blend all harsh edges of the eye shadows and clean the fallouts.

Step 8:

  • Use a coat of mascara and your look is ready.
  • You can use either waterproof mascara or go with artificial lashes.

And this is how your red and blue eye makeup will look once done!
