One of this season’s hottest makeup, nail and dress trend is color-blocking. The concept is simple but effective. Color blocked eye makeup is bold and vibrant. It is simple to create but can be difficult to carry if not done the right way! So, here I am with a head-turning color block inspired eye makeup look. Yes, it is a little eccentric, but that’s what creativity is all about, right? So, are you ready to create an eye-popping look with color blocking? Just follow this detailed tutorial and you’ll be good to go!

Stepwise Tutorial:

Want to learn the color block eye makeup look? Follow the below steps:

Step 1:

Start by moisturizing your delicate eye area to prepare the skin for eye makeup. Pick an eye cream and dot it under your eye area and softly pat it into the skin. Then, take a concealer with your fingers or a flat concealer brush to conceal your dark circles. If you have very deep pigmentation under your eyes, it is best to use a corrector prior to application of concealer. Then, use a loose compact powder and set your concealer to prevent smudging or creasing of the products applied earlier.

Stick a cello tape in the outermost corner of your eyes by connecting an imaginary line extending the lower lash line of your eyes. This tape will act as a guideline for the eye makeup and will also create a sharp wing at the outer corner of your eyes. Then pick a bright matte-red eyeshadow and draw a vertical line on the center of your eye lid area. I used a red eyeshadow from the Elf 144 eyeshadow palette for this step.

Step 2:

Then, pick a red kajal or a lip liner and cover the outer half of your eyelid area. This step need not be neat as we will be smudging it later. It is best to use a creamy formula for this step as it will help in easy blending and smudging of the product. I used the Lakme lip liner in red for this step.

Then pick a smudge brush or a pencil type brush to softly smudge the harsh edges left by the liner in the previous step. Do not pull your eyes, but use very light pressure to blend out the liner, restrict the line within the crease area of the eyelid. It is best to keep the outer edge of the eye makeup sharp and clean to achieve a geometric shape in the eye makeup. I used the Colorbar Smudge brush to blend the kajal to get this step right.

Then, take a matte-red eyeshadow and apply it over the smudged red liner. Pick the eyeshadow in a flat brush and softly pat it over the kajal to get the maximum color intensity. I picked the same matte-red eyeshadow from Elf 144 eyeshadow palette for this step.

Step 3:

Then pick a blue eye pencil and apply it to the inner half of the eyelid area. I used the Tips and Toes eye pencil in blue. Softly smudge it and layer a cobalt matte blue eyeshadow over it.

Step 4:

Apply the same matte blue and red eyeshadow to the lower lash line as shown in the image.

Step 5:

Then, use a black liquid eyeliner and create an inverted ‘L’ shape at the center of your eyelid. Line your eyes thinly or thickly according to your preference. I created a dramatic winged eyeliner by extending the upper lash line outwards. Then apply mascara to complete the eye makeup look. I used the Kryolan eye liner and Loreal Million Lashes Mascara for the perfect look.

And there you have it—a wacky look to go with the trend of this season! This is not an easy look to carry, but if you are game for adventure, wear it to a night party and when people ask reply ‘I believe in staying in sync with the latest trends’. Soon, your friends will be following suit! Try it!
