Uric Acid Levels: Risks, Gout, and Allopurinol Safety

Question
Can increase in Uric Acid level have fatal consequences? If so, what are they? Is Allopurinol a safe drug to use? What are its side effects?

Answer
Hi, Excess accumulation of uric acid can lead to a type of arthritis known as gout. Not sure about fatal consequences, you should seek medical advice for that. I know  Allopurinol is used to treat GOUT, but again seek professional medical advice about which drugs are best for you as they all have different side affects.

In many instances, people have elevated uric acid levels for hereditary reasons.

Diet may also be a factor; eating large amounts of sea salt can cause increased levels of uric acid.

Also foods like  sweetbreads, anchovies, sardines, liver, beef kidneys, brains, meat extracts ,herring, mackerel, scallops, game meats, and gravy can lead to high uric acid levels in the body.

If you are concerned about this I would suggest seeking medical advice.

Thanks.
