Answerkevin;
Gout;
one of humankinds oldest known diseases,gout has been recognized for more than 2,000yrs.
its caused by too much uric acid,a substance your body naturally forms from proteins called purines.
when you have gout,your body either produces too much uric acid or excretes too little in the urine. in 90% of individuals with gout,the problem is underexcretion.
other factors that may contribute to gout are eating foods high in purines-organ meals,anchovies,herring and mackerel-drinking alcohol,being over weight,having high blood cholesterol or diabetes and taking certain medications. for instance-taking a thiazide diuretic for high blood pressure may interfere with kidneys' ability to remove uric acid from the body.
i hope this answers your question.
