Coffee and Metabolism: Does it Count as Food?

Question
I guess what I really should have asked was more about metabolism. Does coffee/creamer keep it going like food does?

-----Question-----
I know about the "always eat breakfast" theory but my question is, does coffee (1/2 decaf) with non dairy creamer qualify as food in regards to this theory? Why/why not?
-----Answer-----
No. There is virtually no nutritional value from coffee and creamer, except, maybe - trace amounts of calcium in the creamer.  Maybe.

The breakfast suggestion isn't a theory. It's a proven, scientific fact that's withstood the test of centuries. Most recently it's been shown that people who eat a whole grain breakfast have a lower overall body weight than those who do not - and - they maintain their weight without 'dieting' more easily.

Answer
That's ok - the answer is the same. No. The caffeine in the coffee may boost a metabolism by a fraction of a percent, but it's quickly returned to normal.  Many people mistake a rapid heartbeat (that may accompany caffeine) with a faster metabolism - when all it is a faster heartbeat.

Metabolism is best served by having to process the whole grains that are recommended for the first meal of the day.
