Weight Loss Help: Overcoming Plateaus & Comfort Eating

Question
I have a real weight problem and weigh 273 lbs at 5 ft. 5 inches.  8 years ago I weighed 120 lbs, but due to some depression and low self esteem I did allot of comfort eating.  I have been trying very hard to diet and believe I am on a good diet but cannot lose weight.  My caloric intake daily is no more than 1500 calories and my carbohydrate intake is under 10 grams daily.  My biggest problem is that I cannot exercise very well as I have a disease that will not allow me to walk great distances and have trouble with weight bearing exercise.  Can you help me lose some weight?

Thank you,

Cierra

Answer
Cierra,

I strongly recommend going to Livestrong.com and setting up a free account.  You can input your height and weight and it will tell you how many calories per day are best for you for your goals.  Then you input the foods you eat to make sure you are staying in the calorie range.  You add in exercise (shadow boxing is GREAT if you cannot walk or do weight bearing exercise) and adjust accordingly.

It helps me to eat 6 mini meals spaced out 2-3 hours apart.  A protein and a carb with each.  And I try to severely limit carbs after 4:00pm.

If you are truly staying within the calorie limit suggested, you will lose weight.  If you are not, you need to speak to a medical professional.

Good Luck,
