Creating Watch Bands with Wire-Wrapped Stones: Techniques & Ideas

Hi Peter,
I am trying to make myself a watch band using malachite stones. These stones have no holes in them.

I was wanting to wrap them in sterling silver wire, sort of like a cage effect so as not to lose the colourations of the stones.
Do you have any ideas, pictures or patterns that could help me with this?
I have bought square wire to wrap the stone and half round wire to bind.

Hello Sara,

I think the easiest way would be to make a 4 stand cage which would have the 4 strands open and then you could twist the ends like the way a sweet is wrapped.
You could in fact use a mix of the two stocks to create this.

Probably the best solution would be to make open back bezel settings, which requires some heat........
