Thoughtful Baby Gift Ideas & Christening Presents | [Your Brand/Site Name]

A baby is a gift - a gift from god or the heavens, and an arrival which can change parent's lives forever, filling their days with happiness, mischief, love and respect. Many people like to celebrate the arrival of a new baby with presents and personalised keepsakes which celebrate and remember that special time. Pregnancy and looming parenthood can be a stressful time for parents, so when she goes pop and the baby finally arrives, family and friends often want to help them to celebrate the day rather than stress about it. But the problem arises, what gift can you buy for a baby?

Anything for the baby is likely to get chewed, over-loved, destroyed or hurled out of the pram or cot, so baby gifts need to be chosen wisely. Of course, it makes sense to buy presents for the parents rather than the child, but often friends and family want to present something which the baby can keep and cherish for a lifetime, to remind them of the love that was around them at the time of their birth. Whether it's a celebratory gift, or something which the parents will need like furniture, toys or a christening gown, there are loads of baby gifts available.

Clothes make excellent baby gifts, whether as general wear or special bed clothes or christening robes. A baby doesn't have much choice about the clothes it wears, but the parents do, and they're likely to have a very specific idea about the type of clothes the baby should be wearing. If you want to take this route it might be best to consult the parents first, especially if you want to gift a christening robe or gown.

Toys can also be a difficult present to get right. No sharp edges or risk should be involved, so anything which is likely to reside inside a cot or bedroom needs to be sturdy and robust. Toys which reside outside of the cot, such as mobiles, wind chimes, posters or wall charts are all reasonably safe, and soft, cuddly toys make an ideal present for the young ones. These can even be personalised with nice messages, names or dates. Personalised teddy bears can end up being cherished childhood items well into adult life.

Another idea is to buy something for mum and dad. You could either lighten their own shopping list by helping out with nappies, food or other essentials, or consider getting them a present to congratulate them on their achievement. It could be a bottle of bubbly or a food hamper, a book of poetry or a good DVD. Pregnancy is a stressful time, but once the baby has arrived safe, sound and healthy parents should be encouraged to enjoy themselves and celebrate the event.
