Best Tools for Drilling Bottle Caps for Earrings - Precise & Damage-Free

I would like to drill a (earring wire size) hole in a metal bottle cap (in the middle of the caps edge/side) to make earrings. I do not want to flatten the sides of the cap or damage it. I was wondering what kind of affordable drill or other tool I should get to "pierce" a precise hole in the cap. I will be making 25 pair. Thank you

I would be setting up a mount using wood, so that it fits inside the lid and the drilled surface is well supported.
Best way would be with a drill press, or even a jewellers hand piece.
These days you can get all sorts of cheap drills for around $20 and even drill presses for less than $100....I'd take a wander around a well stocked Hardware Shop and see what you can find.
