Opal Care & Storage: Expert Advice for Keeping Your Opal Vibrant
Question
opal lady
I put a little water on a piece of paper in a sealed box with the opal and the next day it was completely dry. I'm not sure how i should store my opal. Thank you
AnswerDear Russ,
what a beautiful opal carving ! It really doesnt need any water to store it. Water is only a nessecity when the stone is under lights ,on display or exhibited in a jewelery stores window . The heat dries out almost every stone , they sometimes have a shot glass of water in the same space . But under normal circumstances , if its not sitting in direct sunlight or artificial lights , opal just needs be loved. We've some oriental opal carvings and they are over 35 years old no problem . Hope that helps . best regards Rod Keady www.keadyopals.com
