Jeweler Diamond Removal Time: What to Expect

how long would it take for a jeweler to remove a small .9 diamond from a simple prong setting.I sent my husband to a neighborhood jeweler to ask the worth of my diamond ring and my husband said he went in the back with the ring and my husband heard a few thud thud sounds and the jeweler was back there for 5 min or so.The ring has 9 such stones altogether and My husband thinks he replaced one of the diamonds.How long would it take for a jeweler to remove  a stone from a simple prong setting.Thank you.

well I dont think the time would take long but would he have a similar replacement on hand..?.I tell people to get a lasered ID number put in a valuable diamond from GIA in carlsbad Ca...
show the ring to another jeweler or gemologist?
and keep your eye on it..
