How to Clean Pave Cubic Zirconia Rings: A Comprehensive Guide

Question

Wedding band
I have a pave sterling silver cubic zirconia wedding band. I have had it for about 4 years. I use to clean it with simply brushing with mild dish washing detergent and warm water, and it did the job.  I went without cleaning it for a few months and the stones looked awful. i tried my same routine, but it didnt work.  SO! what i did was bought one of those jar jewerly cleaners at wal-mart and dipped my wedding band in the solution.  that did not do the job at all.

Needless to say, my ring look horrible.  the stones are black.  i have attached a picture of what my ring looks like, instead i have the clear CZ, which are now dark and ugly.  How can i get this cleaned and get the sparkle back? I cant spend too much money, hence the reason why i dont have a real diamond.

Please help. =) thank you!

Answer
Dear Maria, I am sorry you are having problems getting your ring clean. I know the ring means a lot to you and you do want it to look the best.  The cleaning you have done with the brush and mild detergent is one of the best ways.  Also, if there is mild tarnish you can gently rub with moist baking soda, using your fingers. Do a little, rinse and see if it helps. If it does not help, there is no need to continue with the soda at that point.

Since what you have tried has not worked, there is really only one good option at this point.
What you need to do is go to a jewelry store and ask if they clean rings. If they do, ask them to clean yours.  The jeweler will use either an ultrasonic cleaner or a steam cleaner(high pressure steam).  They might use both as we do.

Many stores do cleaning for free, a service which will often get a customer to return to the store.

Please try this approach. If you find no satisfaction in getting the ring cleaned, please get back with me and maybe I can think of something else to help you.  Fair enough?

Thanks so much for the image. A picture always helps.  (This is called channel set.)

God Bless and Peace.  Thomas.
