Post-Abortion Recovery & Intimacy: What You Need to Know

Question
I've read that it's unsafe to use tampons, take baths, and have intercourse after an abortion due to the risk of developing an infection (although I've also heard that there are likelier causes of infection that have to do with the preexisting micro-flora in the vagina prior to the abortion, the sterility of instruments used during the procedure, and how thoroughly the tissues are removed from the uterus).

However, I want to orgasm before 3 weeks is up. Preferably often - with external stimulation only like finger or vibrator on clitoris, no mouth or anything that would introduce potentially dangerous pathogens.

Would cervical contractions pose a risk of uterine infection...since their purpose is to suck up fluids into the uterus?  Or maybe the contractions would help the uterus drain itself of blood and tissue...?

Answer
After an abortion, the recuperation time is only two weeks. We recommend that you refrain from any vaginal activity (douching, sex, tub baths, fingering, tampons, etc) for 14 days after the abortion. After that, the cervix is sufficiently closed and your body is back to its physiological state and you can resume all your activities.
