Hot Tub Use During Pregnancy: Risks & Safety
Questionis it possible to sit in a hot tub, without
doing harm to a fetus?
AnswerHello Crystal. Hot tubs are NOT a good idea when pregnant- in the early weeks- under 12 weeks, the embryo is vulnerable to extreme heat which can cause fetal abnormalities. The hot tub maintains a constant temp and the inside of the vagina can get to be about 100 degrees in a hot tub. In a regular bath, even if it starts out hot, it is constantly cooling and thus not a problem. In later pregnancy, the woman will not be able to tollerate such heat and she won't stay in it. Hope that helps- Cheri.
