Cesarean Section & Illness: Can You Have Anesthesia with a Cold?

Hi there,
I've been looking for info on cesareans, and have found alot, yet i have one question that is unanswered.  I'm having my 2nd child, in 4 days, by planned c/section.  (i had my first this way as well). I think i may be coming down with a cold and possible nasty cough...  can doctors still give me the spinal and the anastasia i need even if i am sick.  for some reason, i thought you couldn't get surgery done ifyou were "under the weather"

Hello Shelly. I am very sorry to hear that you are planning another section. If you would like some good info about the alternatives, go to a website called Nancy Wainer Cohen and another called BirthLove. The epidural would be fine if you have a cold but a general where they put you to sleep would be a problem. It would be best to let the dr. know now about your cold. Hope that helps- Cheri.
