Spider Veins During Pregnancy: Causes, Risks & What to Expect

Question
My Daughter is pregnant, she has little red blotches, that look like broken blood vessels on her face, arms and legs.seem like the blotches spread,it looks like scratches, her DR,said this was normal.that it was called spider something pregnancy.she had one of these blotches on her before she got pregnant,is there something wrong im worried, please let me know.

Answer
During pregnancy, blood vessels can come to the surface of the skin and the tiny cappilaries can form a starburst effect called "spider angiomas of pregnancy". We can also see spider angiomas even when the patient is not pregnant. They are harmless and will not effect your daughter or the pregnancy. They should disappear after the baby is born.
