QuestionI had no morning sickness at all during my first trimester, only extreme exhaustion. However, now that I am almost done with my 14th week, the morning sickness started. Is that right? This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what's going on.
AnswerDear Christina,
It is quite possible, though unusual. The typical symptoms of pregnancy are related to increased hormones. Most often the hormones increase dramatically in the 1st trimester and then tend to level off; thus, relieving the symptoms - at least to some degree - in the 2nd trimester.
You may simply be experiencing a hormone surge and nausea is the effect of that. More than likely, since you didn't experience much nausea in the 1st trimester, this will be short-lived. But again, each pregnancy is different and unique. Make sure you note ANY changes or variations from the norm to your doctor at your next OB visit. If the nausea would worsen, become accompanied by persistent vomiting, fever, vaginal bleeding, abdominal cramps, or any other unusual symptom, contact your doctor right away.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
