Irregular Periods & Possible Ovulation Issues: A Fertility Concern
QuestionI am 26, I have one child, LMP 12/26? I had a d&c on 10/24 for a blighted ovum, I got what I thought was my period 30 days later, then had an 18 day cycle, then a 17 day cycle. All of which were pretty light bleeding. My fertility monitor and the ovulation predictor kits I have been using daily seem confirm I am not ovulating. Not sure what is going on, I did have an U/S 1 month ago which showed an empty uterus and a negative beta hcg, so I am not concerned with any retained products of conception in my uterus. Is my body just taking it's time to get back to ovulation? My Dr. did suggest Aygestin for 10 days to restart my cycle from "scratch". I am wary though as I have only heard of progesterone's being used to induce bleeding in those who are not; clearly not my situation. Thank you so much and happy new year.
AnswerIf you have irregular or short cycles, take the Aygestin or Provera for ten days and you should get your period within 10 days. Then keep a careful record of your periods. Aygestin or Progesterone is used to induce a period, to regulate a period, and can be used for women with heavy bleeding or with irregular bleeding or with no bleeding at all. Don't worry about the medication.
