Questionwe are trying for our third child. I used and ovulation kit and had sex but now I'm sick might be the flu. I have a temp and chills. I was ovulating on wed. did i kill the sperm?
AnswerHi Jennifer :)
I am sorry to hear that your feeling ill, It certainly is the season for flu and cold, so I hope you feel better for the Holidays!
To answer your question,no you having a temperature, or illness will in no way affect your fertility. Sperm are very tough little creatures, and it takes alot for them to die. Their life span can be up 3-4 days, after being deposited into a womans body. And once they are in there, they are determined to find that egg, and they could care less if you are sick ..lol. So even though you are feeling under the weather, just know that it in no way will have any affect on your husbands sperm at all.
Just a note, quite often when sperm is released, and is even on the hand, of the male or female, it will live. And as you know, there are significant temperature changes from inside the human body, to room temperture. Men, have acutally impregnanted their girlfriends, by inserting fingers into their girlfriends vagina, that contained sperm on their fingers. As I said earlier, they are extremely resiliant creatures.
Usually, sperm will die when the fluid they are contained in, dries up, or they die naturally on their own, after the 3-4 day mark.
So no worries Jennifer, you didnt kill any sperm :)
Hope this answers your question, and if you have any more concerns, please dont hesitate to write back.
All the Best to you and your family over the holidays :)
