Understanding Weight Regain After Multiple Pregnancies: Genetic Factors & Lifestyle

Question
Will you entertain a question about the possible reason why some women do not have issues returning to Pre weight...even after 5 children? Is there a physical (Genetic, possibly) reason? or just shear Luck of the draw. I argue that proper diet before, during (no cravings or little if any), and after along with daily exercise is most logical answer. But can you support any medical reason that may also tip the scale in ones favor?.

Thank you...(is a serious question.)

Answer
Genetics certainly plays a big role in how much weight a women will gain during pregnancy, and overall how much fat her particular body wants to maintain.

But be aware that if a women gains the ideal amount of weight, between 25 and 30 pounds, that only about 5 pounds of that weight is fat. The idea of 'eating for two' is a complete myth. Mathematically, it's more like eating for 1 1/5. Women who gain more than 35 pound during pregnancy are taking in too many calories. Then after pregnancy, they're overweight.

Women who get down to their pre-pregnancy weights are generally those who have a fit, active lifestyles and healthy diets before, during and after pregnancy. Luck is not a factor.
