AnswerDear Grace,
There are many various potential causes for irregularities in our cycles. They are:
-Significant weight gain or loss
-Excessive or strenuous exercise
-Poor nutrition (or a diet too high in carbohydrates)
-Smoking
-Drug use
-Excessive caffeine intake
-Excessive alcohol use (interfering with how the liver metabolizes estrogen and progesterone)
-Eating disorders
-Increased stress
-Polycystic ovarian syndrome/estrogen dominance
-Uterine abnormalities (fibroids/cysts/polyps/endometriosis)
-Hormonal imbalance related to perimenopause
-Medications
-Chemotherapy
-Thyroid dysfunction
-Recent childbirth, miscarriage, or D&C
-Breastfeeding
However, if you are experiencing any abnormal vaginal discharge, especially a yellow discharge, you should be examined by a doctor to rule out any vaginal infections - which could also cause unusual bleeding. Other signs of a vaginal infections could be:
-any unusual vaginal discharge, especially if green, yellow, or thick/white
-any foul odor with the discharge
-itching, burning, pain or soreness
-redness or swelling of the genital area
-pelvic pain
-pain with urination or with intercourse
There are many types of infections and many possibilities as to what may be occurring. You really must be examined to know for sure.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
