AnswerDear Jenipher,
Sorry about the delay in answering - I am actually supposed to be on vacation from 12/21 through 1/6, but the system apparently did not set correctly. I happened to check in to make sure and saw there were 3-4 days worth of questions, so I will attempt some very brief answers while I have a house full of company pulling me in a thousand different directions!! :-)
Many women talk of hearing this popping or clicking sound in middle/late pregnancy. There are oodles of theories flying around out there as to what it could be - from the baby's clicking bones to gas. Actually, from the description, the most likely sound that women are referring to with this is simply the tissues and ligaments in your belly stretching to accommodate the growth of your baby. Those cells in the ligaments and tissues can "pop" as they stretch. I would suppose if all is quiet around you and you are being still and attentive, you would be able to note the sound.
Nothing to be alarmed about - though I would encourage you to see a doctor to begin prenatal care for you and your baby as soon as possible. There are screening tests and other standards of care that should be started.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and a Happy New Year.
Brenda
