Dizziness and Shortness of Breath: Potential Causes & What to Do

Question
I get dizzy when I'm on my feet for to long, but the problem is when I get dizzy, I also get shortness of breath and I'm wondering if this is normal. It happens about 3 -4 times a day and it can happen when I'm sitting as well.
Thank you for your time  L.Watson

Answer
Are you currently pregnant and if so how far along?

This sounds like hypoglycemia to me. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar which can be caused by a number of reasons. Try snacking every 2 hours on peanut butter crackers or a peanut butter sandwich, anything that has protein and carbohydrates in it. Try to keep an eye on what you are eating and limit your sugar intake and fatty food intake but eat stuff that is rich in protein and has some carbohydrates in it as well. The rule of thumb for hypoglycemics and diabetics is 7g of protein for every 15g carbohydrates. The protein helps your blood sugar stabilize while the carbohydrates keep them elevated enough to prevent feelings of weakness, dizziness and all of the other symptoms associated with low blood sugar. There are several places that will give you a free glucometer to monitor your blood sugar during these attacks. I am publishing some links for you below not only on hypoglycemia, but where you may obtain a free meter. It typically takes 2 weeks for delivery, but if you feel you do not want to wait, then please feel free to buy one of any brand. I wish you luck.
