Second Pregnancy After Sepsis from IUD: Risks & Possibilities
QuestionI am a 31yr old with a 4yr old and I am wanting to have another baby, the only problem is that I had an IUD placed in 2004 and almost a yr later it got a bacterial infection on it and I got very sick. I actually spent 45 days in 3 separate hospitals and most that was in ICUs. I have alot of health issues now but I really want to have another baby and my son wants a sibling. I have not been told that I could or could not have another child. So i'm wondering what you think. I also want your readers to know that to be careful when it comes to the IUD...
AnswerDear Melissa
I need to know what muliple health issues u have. As for the Iud, i would be only concerned whether the infection u had affected the patency of the your tubes. In other words, if you had severe pelvic infection, your tubes may be blocked and you may be in need for assisted reproductive technology. Otherwise, the chances of having a healthy baby is not different from any other woman in your age.
Good Luck
