Noise Pollution During Pregnancy: Risks and Impact on Baby's Health

Question
Hey there,
Okay... I'm now 22 weeks pregnant, and at the moment, my boyfriend and I live RIGHT behind a night club. It doesn't bother me most nights, but there are some nights in the week when the music is ridiculously loud, and the whole house feels like it's vibrating from the noise... honestly, you can barely hear the TV over it sometimes.

I'm wondering if this can harm my baby. Not only now, but after he's born as well... My boyfriend seems to think that if I'm pregnant in this loud environment, that the baby will get used to it before he's born. But I just want to know if it's at all harmful for our baby - so i can know what to do from there.

Your advice would help alot at the moment!

Thanks :)

Answer
Dear Amanda,

Well, obviously it is not something that will bother now - while your baby is still in utero. After the baby is born, you will just need to assess if begins to affect the baby's sleeping patterns. Chances are that if it does not affect your health, it will not affect your baby's either. But again - you will have to assess the situation after the baby is born, especially if you are not in a situation to change your living environment at this time. You can only do what you can do and humans are by nature pretty adaptable creatures.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
