Anemia and Fertility: Exploring the Link to Irregular Periods

Question
I have been anemic for years but never associated it with ovulation.  Could anemia be the secret enemy of my not being about to have a regular period since age 45. I am now 52 and have been trying to get pregnant for years but no one tested or regulated that aspect of my health. Can I start taking iron pills now?  Would this help me to conceive or start my periods again?  I still want a baby so badly. Doctors at fertility clinic never clearly stated that I was menopausal and not clear about perimenopause. I am so angry. They took the FSK and it wasnot high (35) but not low for clear diagnosis. No nite sweats-mood swings-nothing related to meno. Now I am old this could trigger meno. :elp somebody please!

Answer
Please do not be put of by my answer but I would like to be truthful with you. In my 10 years as a practicing physician in maternal health, I have not seen a single woman who has conceived after the age of 50. And you are 52 with no periods or irregular periods since seven years. So it will take a miracle to conceive. You can try IVF but even that may not work, as you are probably menopausal and it will require you to be pumped up with hormones. Also any pregnancy at this age is dangerous and fraught with plenty of complications.
I am sorry to disappoint you with my answer, but I think you are better off considering other options including adoption. I know this is difficult to take but it is sometimes better to be realistic in life and not chase an impossible dream.

And no your anemia is not related to your infertility.
Anyways I will be glad to help you if you require any more info
