Pregnancy After Ectopic Pregnancy: Understanding Timing & Concerns
QuestionQUESTION: i was about 3-5 months pregnant in my left tube which resulted in the removeal of the left tube. I then concieved shortly after so i am confused as to when i conceived. I had a lite spotting episode in agust but no more after that my hcg showed over 35,000 with puts me 10plus weeks. but the ultrasound tech rushed and is saying hat i am only 6 weeks and heard that rapid heartbeat of the baby i am scared of not knowing but i calculated the due at the end of april but no having my menstraul for that many months i am CONFUSED please help me???
ANSWER: Calculating the age of pregnancy from the level of HCG is very unreliable, so go with the ultrasound report. USG is much more accurate and around six weeks the heart beat can be seen on the USG. So ask the USG tech to tell you the EDD, USG machines can do that type of calculations and they are pretty accurate.

QUESTION: ok but i differ with the doctor because they tell me i concieved in september but haven't had sex in thhat month or the month before so that is where i beg to differ with them. And i am pregnant with a mexican child whos father is shorter then me he looks up to me could that make a difference
AnswerEven the best of technologies can be inaccurate especially when we are dealing with due dates. The USG calculates the EDD from a set of measurements of the baby and these measurement are compared with a standard measurement taken from many thousand USG's. So it is possible that you may not have had sex in the month of aug and sep, but still the USG measurements may give you a date in September. As far as the thing about Mexican father goes yes it is possible that because of the genes involved your baby may have a less height and that's why the USG is giving you a date in September, while you may have actually conceived before. So do you think you conceived in July or early august? I mean did you have sex with this man in July or early august?
