Miscarriage Symptoms: What to Watch For - Comprehensive Guide

Question
What are the signs or symptoms of a miscarriage?

Answer
Hi Tia
The most common symptoms are vaginal bleeding, which can range from light spotting to heavier than a period. You may see blood clots, brown discharge or other tissue.
Often there is cramping, with pelvic or back-pain. You may find that the usual symptoms of pregnancy, such as breast tenderness, feeling sick and having to pass urine more frequently than usual, stop unexpectedly.

Sometimes there are no signs or symptoms of miscarriage and pregnancy symptoms continue, and the miscarriage is only discovered in a routine scan.

Symptoms of miscarriage do not necessarily mean you are experiencing one. Some women do bleed unexpectedly with no consequence to the pregnancy, on the other hand it could also indicate problems such as an ectopic pregnancy. Cramping can also be normal as the uterus stretches to accomodate the growing baby.
Any bleeding should be checked out by a doctor straight away.

I do hope this has helped. Please do come back if I can help any further.

Kindest Regards
Sarah
