Understanding Early Pregnancy: No Symptoms After Positive Beta - Expert Advice

Question
Hi Dr. Rameriz. I am 35 years old and I have done 4 fresh IVF and 2FET all
negative.  In august i did another IVF with Intralipid infusion and I had my
very first positive beta of 158 and 324 2days after.  My office doesnt do a
third. Since my positive beta I have been worried though because my
pregnant feelings have disappeared.  I am using progesterone suppositories
and my last level was 15.7 is this too low? Do you think I will have a good
outcome with these numbers??

Answer
Hello Lisa-Marie,

Your numbers are looking good and pregnancy symptoms are very non-specific.  I recently had a similar patient who swore each time she had a blood draw, that she was no longer pregnant because she didn't have any symptoms.  In fact, she continued to remain pregnant with twins, and was transferred to her obstetrician at 9 weeks gestational age.  She still didn't have any symptoms.

I think your progesterone level is a little low.  With that level, I would double your progesterone dosage.  I like it to be greater than 25.  Some clinics want it to be greater than 30, but that high a level is not necessary.

I'm glad to hear that the intralipid worked, although studies have shown it not to be beneficial.  In your case, it certainly seems to have been.  I get similar results using low dose aspirin and heparin (and they are less expensive).

Good Luck,
