Persistent Eye Drainage: Causes, Relief & Affordable Options

Question
my eyes (predominately the left) are draining from the duct continuously.  It is painful at times and irritating to my eye lids.  The whites of my eyes are fine without any redness.  I have used an opthamic antibiotic borrowed from a friend with no reflief. I have used warm compresses on both eyes with no results.  I have alo stopped using any make-up to help.  Is this a clogging of my lacrimal or tear ducts? I have no insurance and no money...can u help me?

Answer
Hi Terry and thanks for writing,

It sounds like you could have a blocked tear duct (but of course no one can diagnose this without actually seeing you). If you do, the usual case is some sort of infection (eye, sinus, bacterial, etc...) which would respond to APPROPRIATE TREATMENT. Unfortunatley I can not tell prescribe the treatment for you, only a physician can do that after seeing you and your eye. DO NOT borrow any friends medications ever again, you really can do a lot more harm than good doing that (ie: turn a simple treatable local infection into a resistant systemic supper infection).

Sorry I haven't been more help, but you do need to see a doctor and I would go sooner rather than later and get on top of this now.
