QuestionHi
I am a 51 year old guy with most of my hair, but its gone from brown to dark brownish gray.
I have a new job now where I can 'let my hair down' so to speak, even real long as long as it is in a pony tail.
My hair is wavy and fine,at least on top, and the best style I always thought was fairly long, halfway over the ears and about 3 inches down the back-not a mullet- more of a late '60s look. In fact it seems to have come back.
In your opinion, should older guys wear their hair longer? Most of the older guys I see with long hair look kind of down and out probably cant afford a haircut. Or they are Italian football managers!
I seemed to get more looks from the ladies (not looking happily married, my wife likes the buzz cut and beard look???) when I had it long this winter, but then I got a buzz when it got hot out.
I also got some jealous comments from an old school buddy who had lost most of his hair. He was literally Peter Frampton then and now. I was more of a Kenny Rogers look.
I guess I am just hung up after most of my adult years in the army and then management.
Thanks for your thoughts!
AnswerHey, Hi there Gord, I think you should go with what you feel is you. I don't think age should have anything to do with it especially as so many men have no choice but to be bald. You are lucky to have such wonderful hair!
Men can get away with colour changes in hair more easily than women. Obviously you know that there are grey cover-ups on the market but there's no rule that says hair must not have any grey in it. There is a suggestion that men look more distinguished if they are turning grey in fact!
I've known a few university professors who sport an individual look and so, as they are much more intelligent than I, and Italian Football managers are much richer than I, I'd suggest that longer hair can't be a bad thing!
The world would be a dull old place if we all looked the same wouldn't it? I'm rather a non-conformist myself so I may be leading you astray though.
I didn't think it ever got hot in Canada! I thought your weather was even worse than ours here in London. I would have said you'd need all the warmth you can get to help you through your desperate winters watching Hockey.
Hope that helps,
Take care, Claire
