Crayon in Ear: What To Do When Medical Appointment is Delayed

Question
My 3 yr old son put a crayon in his ear 2 weeks ago and pulled it back out and had no complaints but when he went in for his checkup today the dr. found a large chunk of crayon in his ear and said it's too far in for him to get it out so he recommended that I go to an ENT (he said since my son is not in pain, it's not necessary to go to the emergency room). I am unable to find an ENT who can see him for 3 more weeks. My dr. says he can wait that long, but I am unsure - should I wait for the appt. or take him to the ER? Thank you so much for your opinion.

Answer
Just my personal opinion - I would call the ENT and tell them exactly what the story is- if they cannot see you then I would attempt to obtain another ENT..I would not wait 3 weeks- the er would be my next step but be aware there is an er charge- depends on your insurance- but that in and of itself would not hinder me.

As I said this is my opinion as a mother and grandmother, only.

There is something in your childs ear that does not belong there - I wouldn't want it in my ear. :)
