H. pylori Infection & Risk: Symptoms, Transmission, and Prevention
QuestionMy husbands grandmother just passed away from bleeding ulcer (it bled out and she went into cardiac arrest). I am assuming she was infected with H Pylori. She was at my house 2 or 3 times several months ago. I served dip with crackers (not sure she didn't double dip)and used our bathroom. I am now (couple weeks now) having stomach burning but have a history of gastritis diagnosed by endoscopy confirmed 2 years ago no h pylori. I was also recently on 3 weeks of penicillian for dental issues (I have mitral valve). Could her usage of bathroom and possible dipping into the appetizer cause my family to contract H Pylori?
AnswerIn theory, it could be a way to contract H Pylori.
Your stomach issues should be evaluated at face value.... did the prolonged antibiotics disrupt things? Are you taking NSAID's like Motrin/Alleve or similar prescription meds? Cigarettes, alcohol make these worse.
With all that in mind, I would see how you respond to one of the acid supressing meds like Zantac or Prilosec then consider checking for H Pylori and possible treatment if you don't improve.
