QuestionMy question is, is it possible to have an STD if neither of my parents has had one, and if I have only ever had any sexual intercourse with one girl whos parents also havent had any STDs. I am also her first and only sexual partner as she is mine. The only thing either of us have ever done prior to what we have done together with anyone is kiss or hug.
AnswerHi Mark,
If both you and your partner were virgins before you had sex with each other, then the possibility of either of you having a STD is practically 0%. There are some STDs that can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy, such as AIDs, but since you say neither or your mothers have a STD then that is not an issue.
The one possibility is transmission of herpes through oral sex if one of you has had cold sores. There are 2 types, one most commonly causes cold sores and the other most commonly causes genital herpes. But it is possible to pass oral to genital herpes. If either of you has a cold sore, refrain from oral sex until it has healed, or to be even safer, use barrier protection during oral sex.
