Understanding the Risks of Pregnancy After Uterine Rupture: A Mother's Concerns

Question
I am a mother of two, on attempting VBAC with number two my uterus ruptured at about 9 cm and 8 hours of labor.  Both myself and baby were fine.  I am so concerned because I am pregnant again 2years 3 months later and am scared to death.  My OB says its not a big worry, the specialist said they didn't even need to see me.  They just both agreed I had to deliver by 37 weeks and if any labor or contractions started they had to be stopped.  Should I get another opinion?  I guess I am so scared of my uterus rupturing as  I get bigger.  Thank you.

Answer
The human body is amazingly durable in some respects. Luckily, the incidence of uterine rupture is still pretty low even after one has already had one.

The thing that will affect you the most is the anxiety you are feeling. If you want to get another opinion so it will set your mind at ease, then please do so! You being relaxed with this pregnancy and not under stress is the utmost importance. Remember that your body is made to give birth and the body does a wonderful job of healing itself. =)

If you would like further information or information on something else, please let me know! Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Best wishes,
