Paternity Testing: Understanding Potential Fathers & Pregnancy Timeline

Question
So i have been with these 2 guys many times over the month span i got pregnant..the first day of my last period was Jan 12..i had sex with guy number one that day..continued to have a normal 6 day period than..on the 6 and 7th and 11th day after my period i had sex with guy number 2..then i slept with guy number 1 again on the 24th, 25th and 26th days of january..which is right around the time most women ovulate..day 14-15-16..i had my first ultrasound and it gave me a time span of being between 7 weeks 2 days or 7 weeks 4 days pregnant..which seems to me it's saying it would be guy number 1 who is the father..i obviously just ovulated early...is that correct..or is it all too close to know...i know ultrasounds done early are pretty accurate

Answer
Unfortunately, it is way to close to call. Not only is ovulation very hard to predict after the fact, but sperm can stay viable in a woman's body for up to 5 days. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to tell who the father is.

I recommend informing both men of the possibility and schedule a DNA test to be done at the birthing center or hospital when the baby is born. Many hospitals and birthing centers will allow you to choose this option when you preregister.

Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.

Best wishes,
Helen =)
