QuestionI am expecting my sixth child and am currently at 34 weeks. This is my fifth pregnancy as I had twins last time around. My question is this: does the number of deliveries affect when you will go into labor? In my previous pregnancies, I have gone into labor at between 38 and 39 weeks. I am getting nervous because my husband has to go out of the country for three weeks starting this Sunday!
AnswerStatistically, first pregnancies are longest and subsequent pregnancies get shorter and shorter. But with large families, at some point the shortening has to stop! Usually if you've noticed a pattern through your other pregnancies, it will most likely continue, so if all your previous children were born at 38-39 weeks, then you can expect this one at around the same time.
Just remember that every pregnancy and every baby is different, so you could still get surprised! Congratulations on #6, and good luck!
