VBAC After Multiple C-Sections: Risks & Possibilities

Question
I am thirty seven years old and my husband and I are preparing to have our thrid child.  Our 16 year old and nine year old were both c-sections because they were both breech.  Should I attempt to have VBAC or am I safer to have another c-section due to the past two operations?

Answer
Melinda,

As long as your other c-sections were low transverse incisions, then you should be able to try for a VBAC.  Your uterus has had plenty of time to completely heal, so your risks of complications decrease when sufficient time has passed between c-sections, typically about 2 years.

Best,
Catherine
