Questionjust wondering what that could be because i don't remember having it with my other two kids and I keep having these pains in my cervix/lower abdomen area like sharp pains but my water has not broke and im not more then a one that I'm aware of.
AnswerIf the baby is punching or kicking in the cervical area, that can cause that stinging sharp pain in the cervix. Sometimes it can be caused by stretching of ligaments, tendons, or muscles in that area.
It is very uncomfortable, and it is very common to experience it with some pregnancies and not others. When it happens, you can try changing positions. Keep track if it happens when you are doing certain things or in certain positions. Make sure that you are staying hydrated as well.
Hopefully all this cervical poking will help your cervix to quickly dilate when you do go into labor! However, experiencing the cervical pain does not mean you will go into labor earlier.
Mention the pain to your doctor or midwife at your next appointment; they may have other suggestions for things you can try to alleviate the pain.
Hang in there!
